On April 8th, many of us gathered to witness the moon passing directly between the earth and the sun, casting a shadow over the entire state of Arkansas. As this happened, daylight turned to dusk and an eerie twilight took over. The temperature noticeably dropped, the birds fell silent and everything was still. A fiery halo appeared as the sun peeked around the edges of the moon. I must say, I was spellbound! Quite possibly, one of the coolest things I have seen or experienced. Just a small reminder of our small place in the grand cosmos.
If you missed it, don’t worry! The next total eclipse in Arkansas will occur on August 12, 2045. Go ahead, pencil that in. Most of us worked from home to avoid the traffic jams they promised (but were non-existent) and enjoyed the event with our families. Enjoy our snapshots!
